I borrowed this story from the C4 side. I think it is a good story and shows us that if we wait for "some day" then "some day" may never happen.
Sitting here on on this quite snowy morning, after two good snowmobile crashs this week (and it's only thursday)....i think i'll cool my jets and tell you about a corvette that i should have bought.
As a very young man about to be married for the first time i of course went out and put a big down payment on a very nice set of wedding rings,.....now as my cousin and i were cruising down san leandro blvd. in his new 442 to pick up the rings, we went past town and country motors which was one of those car lots that always had the coolest cars.
And there sitting on the front row in the middle was this 62 hardtop white corvette, now just the fact that it was a corvette would have gotten my attention, however this one sat taller than all the cool cars around it. I made mike stop so i could see why, and when i got out i could hardly believe my eyes, this little corvette was sitting so high because it had a strait tube axle under it with hallibrand skinny wheels tucked under the front.
The back was up in the air because under it was a 10"olds rear end with the biggest set of m&h racemaster slicks i had ever seen. Going back up front i look under the hood scoop and see six two barrel carbs, which just happen to be sitting on a very built 394 olds engine,.....looking inside of the cockpit,...yes thats what it looked like, was a complete roll cage and a b&m hydro trans,.....it was right now at this tender young age of 17 that i was having what is now called a mid life crisis,...you see the price of this jewel was the same amount of money that i had on me to pay off the rings!
Now of course the salesman is next to me telling me that this is the baddest corvette he's ever seen,.....who the hell is he kidding,... my eyes work, ... of course this is coolest thing on earth,...anybody can see that!.....Why it's as beautiful as that girl i was going to marry,.....danm what was her name??......Well to make a long story short,.... i sat there in the car lot doing dryhops for about an hour in that car talking myself into doing the right thing.
I ended up buying the rings,..... and five years later they ended up in the pawn shop. And now many...many years later after 40 years on the drag strip,..... there still hasen't been a week that goes by that i haven't thought about that little white corvette and what might have been.
Well the snows lifting,.....and i can still sorta walk,.....so i guess i better go start the one sled i haven't crashed this week,.....see ya ...joe.....
Life is full of regrets and "what-ifs". You've got to make the most of EVERY day, not condemn the present and future because of what happened in the past.

Heck, I'm still pissed at my dad for selling his '64 vert in 1975 for [tear welling up in eye] $3000. But I forgive him. He did, after all, make a few other sacrifices for me and my sister. You know, stuff like a good home and college.
that seals it... i had dreams of having a family and a wife but the more I look at it the more disturbing it becomes...
Im staying single ladies!!!! for the rest of my life
That's not neccessary. Just find a woman who is car crazy, like me. I'm already taken, but I can tell you that I'm even more car crazy than my husband. I'd much rather have a sporty car than a nice set of rings. I encouraged my husband to buy our 01 vert. Then I had to have one of my own, so I bought an 00 coupe to drive every day. Then my husband heard about a 66 coupe (almost all original and frame off restored except for paint) that was only $32,000. Then we had to buy a lift to get all three vettes and our truck into a 3 car garage. And even with all this eye candy, I'm still on the web looking at car stuff every night. I bet there are some other females out there who are car crazy, too.

Or just plain crazy!
Kidding aside, I'm glad that there are woman out there like you. My four daughters are already Vette crazy, because I've always had one. They definitely will be Vette owners to continue our proud family tradition.
