I have noticed what I think is a problem but maybe I am just a little over protective of my car. I have a 2001 coupe and I have noticed the climate control panel is dim... almost to the point of not being able to see it (day or night)... after driving the car for serveral miles or mintues the display showing the outside temp gets brighter... is this normal or am I being a little overly concerned? I have a extended warranty and I don't really have a problem taking the car in to the shop... I will cry of course not being able to drive it during that time... but if my "baby" is hurting.... I want someone to look at her... Thanks for any help or advice... I know I can get help here... because Corvette owners are terrific... Thanks guys and girls!!!!!
It is a very common problem. It will eventually get so dim to be unreadable. The power supply solder joints are bad and need to be repaired.
CF member Mandigtal ( David Ruberg e-mail digital1_guy@charter.net) does it for ~ $45 complete with a 5 year guarantee.
But if you have a warranty get a new HVAC head unit.
The units are about $475 + 3 hours labor.

What he said...very common for the dual zone. Mine's starting to die too after six years. I'll be pulling the unit for repair soon and sending to Mandigtal. I've read nothing but good things about the guy

that's the problem and digital1 is the guy to fix it.
....just wanted to say thanks to everybody!! I was just getting ready to start searching for a new/used HVAC unit due to the dimming problem as well. CF has had the solution to every problem that I've had so far.
Thanks to everyone, I knew I could count on the CF for an answer... I will probably take it in for repair since I have the warranty... unless it's fairly easy to remove it from the car. Again thanks for the help... and save the wave!!!!!

He did mine on my 98, total time was about 1 week including shipping back and forth. I can recommend him.
