Hi Groucho and z06boz -

Take a look at this page - this is how I did mine.

http://www.iammoon.com/c5tech/caliper_painting.htm

I did mine on a lift, but it could be done on jackstands.

Groucho - I assume you meant how to prep the calipers - I used simple green, warm water and a tooth brush.

This is the paint I use -

best regards -

To each there own!
The red isn't so much a "ricer" thing, but it is a mod that a lot of ricers get to give it the racey look. It just so happens that 90% of all the BIG BRAKE makers have their calipers red......and why the Z06 has stock red ones. It's been around forever with the Porsche's, Ferraris, Lambos and the list goes on.

But......I don't think the red looks good with my Pewter, so I'm going black!!

Someone actually recommended gold to me. Since I haven't seen pics yet, I guess I can photoshop a pic of my car with some color combos that include the gold calipers.

OK, just tried that... it looks like it might be easier to actually paint them than try to add some color to a pic! But, at least I'll have something I can at least use to visualize some colors.

Red, or even Anniversary Red was too much "bling" for me. Just did them black with silver lettering. Doesn't really stand out but is a real nice cleanliness to the look !

Painted mine Carmine Red to match the rest of the car. Some may not like it, but I do and it is my car. I did not use hi-temp paint, just color matched paint from the dealer and a couple of coats of clear.

Just did mine this past weekend. The original owner painted them red and the second owner painted them sliver and until this weekend they were sliver with red specs in them . I painted them some kind of apple red, sort of matches the flag in the emblem. Since the finish was crappy anyway, I just used a brush. You can’t really tell unless you get your nose down there. Not sure on the red yet, the black in the pics does look interesting. Once I get it figured out, I’ll have them stripped and done up right.
