I want to get my windows tinted on my car and want to do it soon because the car is black and it would look so much better with dark windows. Does anyone know if there are any bad side affects to tinting in cold weather? I have heard from a few people that they had their wondows tinted in the winter and it bubbled up but they are not positive its because of the cold. Does any one have any experiance on this topic? Thanks, Patrick
Most tint shops will guarantee their work. If it has bubble after the spring I would bring it back and they will re-tint them. I was thinking of getting my BMW tinted and thought about the same thing. I would think it might help to leave it out in the sun as much as possible and maybe run the heater on high every day for like a month. Even thought about using a blow dryer in the garage to help it cure, just don’t over heat any one spot and use it on the glass side (outside only).
I have had tinted windows on cars for well over 15 years. It is a LOT colder for a LOT longer here in Connecticut. I'd never had a problem with the film lifting or bubbling from cold temps.
Typically, when the film is applied, there'll be a "distortion" type appearance for a day or two(glue adhering to the windows) then it should be clear and stay clear.
The only downside(is that one word or two?) to dark film is it is a little more difficult to see out at night. If you need to, simply roll the window down and you'll be all set. I've got limo on my Z and wouldn't have it any other way.
Yeah I have the black tint on 2 of my other cars done in a different state so they are darker than what you can get in CT and I often have to roll down the windows at night when backing up. I have also noticed the bubbling you get when you first tint a window and how it goes away in the next few days after tinting. So from your experiance there should be no difference in temperature. Thanks for the vote of confidence I will look into getting it done soon then thanks!
