My '99 has chips and a few scratches on the nose. I want to remove the front,(section containing the parking lights etc.) to repaint it. Can anyone tell me what the difficulty level is and disassembly tips you might have?
Not to bad, first remove the lower panels in front of tires a few 10 mm and some 7 mm bolts, then on the side of bumper and fender there will be two 10 mm nuts on each side remove them. Under front there is a few 10 mm bolts and some 7 mm bolts remove them, unplug wire conn on right side going to lights. Then remove the front filler plate there two twist fasners behind it, then remove the bolt on the top by front of hood. 15 min. and you done.
Wow, the build sheet? That's definately insentive to get into the job. The thing that gripes me ...metric fasteners on 'American sports car'.
When I went to the bowling green plant several years ago..during a presentation, the speaker told the story about times in the past when the assembly line ran low on fasteners i.e. nuts, washers etc. they would head to the local hardware store and buy everything the store had in stock in order to keep the assembly line up and runnning! He wasn't joking.
