Default purchaseing a C5? need help

Hello,

I am going to purchase a C5 but having a little trouble decideing weather to get a Z06 or not

I want the car for track days and time trials

I wanted to know what the HP rateings are for the C5 and C5 Z06 and also what would be the best year to get for a track car.

it will be driven hard and modified so i really just want to find the best bang for the buck

thanks
Mark

best bang for the buck would be a '97 coupe. for the difference between that car and the sticker on a 01 ZO6 you can do some serious modding

What are you going to modify? The Z06 has a lot going for it as a track car but if you are going to rip it all out you can get anything I guess. I think the Z06 fits your purpose more.

suspension
exhaust
belts
brakes
tires
cage?
just basic bolt ons to get a little more hp and make it a little more of a track car than street car

I raced a 200hp VW for about 5 years and it was FWD then I raced a 125cc shifter kart but that really beats the **** out of you (but worth it , they are so fast) so just getting something like a C5 will be fun as it is but I know I will not leave it alone

thanks for all the help

Have you thought about looking for a FRC corvette. They have 345 hp and some modding you would have something that would better than a Z06 and would cost less too.

The Z06 comes with a light weight titanium exhaust. The suspension and brakes are upgraded from the coupe. The Z06 does come with better tires that are non-run-flats. And it has the LS6 engine. With that said you would want a 2002 to 2004 Z06 with the 405 HP. You can bolt on an intake like the vararam and headders to get some more HP to the wheels.
