Default Any chance GM will pay?

I have a 99 FRC, approx. 56,000 miles. Air bag light is on continuously meaning I need a new SDM (air bag deployment module, approx. $500 + labor). Since it is a safety issue is there any chance that GM will pay for it? I do not have an extended warrenty. Thanks in advance for you thoughts and comments.

there may be some sort of federal law for safety equipment like there is for emissions equipment.

do a little research on google, you might get lucky

Nope, good luck. Did you just have the 3/36? If so I can not see any dealer fixing it. Emissions is the only thing covered by a longer standard warranty

I think the best advice is to let your local service department diagnose the problem, and with all due respect - don't assume the worst. How do you know for certain that the module requires replacement - just by the code?

The biggest factor is not the mileage but rather the fact that the car is seven years old.

I'd agree with everyone else - with no extended warranty chances are very slim to zero that GM will pay for this.

Thanks guys, I didn't really think I had a chance anyway but someone else mentioned it to me and I thought I would ask. I only had the 3/36. Guess I'll just suck it up and go. Thanks.

Last November, before the snow flew, I had a seat module replaced and totally covered at dealership. Third owner, No extended warranty, just dumb luck.

99 vert 58,000 mi at the time.
