After watching header debates for the last year or so, I find myself leaning towards QTP Tri-Y's this spring. They *may* not give highest peak HP but will give some really good increases in the midrange RPM band (as opposed to top end), where our personal driving style keeps the engine most (i.e. auto-x, daily driving vs. drag/serious road racing) Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it although I really have no way to prove it
All is in my opinion which I'm smart enough to know ain't worth much. Good Luck
here's an excerpt from an explanation of Tri-Y design:
TRI-Y HEADERS
Tri-Ys consist of a four-into-two-into-one design, with four primary pipes paired into two slightly larger-diameter secondary pipes before reaching a single collector. One advantage of this design is that the increasing pipe diameter broadens the torque curve, providing higher torque throughout the low- and mid-rpm range than a similar four-into-one style header.
Another generalization of the 'theory" of Tri-Y is:
Tri-y headers ... tend to have a broader powerband at the expense of slightly less peak power than a four-into-one.
well if dynatech and lg are almost the same hp wise give or take 6hp ill most probably lean towards the dynatechs...How bout sound?? Lg's and dynatechs alike?? im just confused and i wanan make the rite choice if im gonna be spending 1000+ thanks for allll the help guys
I have the Dynatechs and am very happy with them. I have not even tuned my car yet, but I can already feel a pretty good difference in torque for sure.
I started a group purchase here on the forum and got the Dynatech Supermax kit with hi-flow cats for about 1,295.00, saved about 500 bucks doing a group purchase.
In terms of the sound from headers, that is more determined by what cat-back exhaust you have, rather than the header itself..and also if you are running cats or not.

Most dyno tests will show that you will lose any benefit gained by a try Y if you are running anything restrictive from the headers back, unless you are running a completely open exhaust your better off with a 4 into 1.
