Default HorsePower War ..........

Ok I'm pulling into the parking structure at work daily and this is what I see.....2000 Viper on the first level. Ok on the second level there's the 2004 ZO6. On the third level of the parking structure is a 2006 Dodge SVT. Now sprinkled throughout the 5 level structure are a few 350 ZX's and others.

Sometimes it's fun just to go to work to see what might be in the lot today. Either I better Supercharge my FRC or pull the trigger on the C6 ZO6. Then I'd might get a parking stall at least on the second level instead of the 5th. At any event my car looks the best anyway

It is amazing how fast the HP in production cars is rising year after year. Makes you wonder where's the limit...

Cool that your work parking is full of great rides!

It will most likely be just like the 60's/70's. All was good until the Insurance companies noticed it and put a halt to it through their rising rates.

i suggest the supercharger route - better yet, how about twin turbos.
no belt hopping problems to worry about.

I thought I'd might go with the Supercharger or even the Head and Cam thing but I really don't want my car to sound like a boat with the looping of the cam/head job.

Now I still have the issue of the constant whistle of the Supercharger..............wow I'm complaining here are'nt I........

Maybe just save my dollars and get the C6 ZO6 and be done with it or how about keeping my car (which has been paid for for awhile now) and dump a 427 in it and have the great looks of the C5 and the power of anything on the road.......

I'm just enjoying the conversation with everyone. I love having choices.

Insurance prices didn't help, but it was gas shortages and increasing emissions regulations that put an end to that muscle car era.

There is a built C5R for sale in the parts section, pick that up, add an A & A Supercharger kit and you too can have over 800 rwhp!

Check that post out in the forced induction section, talk about sick power!

Think you meant SRT (SVT is Ford's Special Vehicle Team), was it the Magnum or the Charger? I didn't realize those were shipping already. My dad was considering an SRT Charger, but they took out the multi-displacement system on the "Hemi" to get some extra RPMs out of the engine, and that makes fuel economy even worse. Did get to checkout the Chrysler 300 version in silver. Those are boats though, working man's M5.

There really is a horsepower war lately. Daimler-Chrysler has an SRT version of so many cars now. Neon, Crossfire, Ram, the three 300-style platforms, and that big Jeep too. New Z06 knocking on the door of the Ford GT. LS2 in the SSR and GTO... And Cadillac is finally getting away from their dull retiree image and adding in luxury, power, and sex appeal to the marque with their V-line. That XLR-V is even hitting tripple digit MSRP, competing with cars like the SL55 AMG. SVT Cobras are around the corner and big talk about bringing the Camaro back. Good times.

No need to worry about the boats getting big-time power though. Corvette is more than just an engine with wheels... its a sports car, and these newcomers aren't intended to compete with it. It sure does make the Impala SS in the garage look obsolete though!

Go with the head/cam package. Way less $ and about the same HP. You also can get that cool lumpy muscle car idle to set off all the car alarms on those cars in your parking garage. Look at my sig for some good mods that will get you good power.

"Just do it" - NIKE

"Just do something" - ME

Performance vs. Looks (or Stealth-ness)... you make the call, 'cause after you pay for it... you have to live with it I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever the outcome.

BTW, I knew you'd fall sooner or later Perry

Opps....I'm going to buy the whole damn car.........Patience is a virtue. I'll just wait and wait and wait......then before you know it, it will be in the garage. So for now the C5 Red FRC will stay as is.

Oh I did forget onething that I'll continue to update............the wax to keep it nice and glossy red. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was at the Chevrolet dealership last night. The wife is wanting to buy an Uplander. I was looking at a new C6 they had. It was nice but what really caught my eye was a poster on the wall from Cadillac that said they had 3 sub 5 second cars! Thats pretty impressive I think considering 2 of them appeared to be 4 door cars. The other is the one they build at the Corvette plant. Of course, they are not Vettes.
