Default Does z51 make a big difference

Hey all, I'm looking to buy a vette in the following month and i would like to know if the z51 makes a big difference. I know about the brakes not over heating like the original ones and all the other benifits of this package, but on the other hand i'm not sure i need it cause i don't drive like formula 1 drivers anyways.

If you can get it then get it. Unless the owner knows that it's Z51 equipped and is raising the price because of it. you could convert for under $1200 to Z06 suspension if the base wasn't good enough so paying extra for Z51 i don't think is a great financial idea.

I'm getting it new so the owner ( dealership, lol ) will know that it has z51.
So u're saying that I could get a z06 suspension for less after i bought it? It would be just as good suspension? I guess the brake thing wouldn't be there.

If you are buying new then get it, also you want to be in the C6 section.

I have one "with" ('00 coupe) and one "without" ('04 Convertible). Like it much better "with". I put Bilstein Sport shocks on the coupe, which I would not do again. Created much to harsh a ride for my sixty-year-old backside. Stock Z51 is a great compromise between ride and handling IMHO. I put Z06 sways on my '04, which was a good mod. Got some of the cornering ability without changing the ride.

Z51 gets you the 315 gears in the automatic.

I'm looking at trading in my '98 on an '03 or an '04. The '03 I'm looking at has the Z51, so I'm interested in this thread as well.

You'll have to excuse my ignorance of most things mechanical, but what does "315 gears" do for me? I'm mainly referring to "in the real world", as I do not intend to race the car in any way.

If you're planning on buying new, I would assume you are talking about a C6. That being the case, you most likely will get better responses to you questions here over in the C6 General Discussion section of the Forum. Good luck.

A few of my coupes had F45 which was a pain in AZZ. All you do is find some Z51 or Z06 springs usally about $300.00 used. Bilstien shocks $225.00 new and Z06 or Z51 sways. Usally about $200.00 and your all set. The only other thing you get on the Z51 package I think is an oil cooler.
