Default Electrical/Security problem

First off hello and I'm new to the forum. I've been viewing this forum for some time and I can't believe the amount of knowledge, so glad to be onboard.

I have a 2001 Corvette coupe that I just purchased about 3 months ago and everything has been going great. One morning I go out to start my car and the only thing that works is the door locks, no security or interior llights. I go to start the car and get nothing, but the seat belt light comes on. After a while I have my son sit in the passenger seat and as he rocks back in the seat the interior ligts come on and the security system light goes on, car strats. The same thing happens again this morning, nothing but the seat belt light comes on, car will not start. So looking like a fool I go over to the passenger seat and rock back and forth and the intrerior lights come on and the security system light turns on, the car starts. I'm I having a bad dream or is this one of the electrical problems that I will have to spend months on to determine. Could it be the security system?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreicated.

That does pretty strange....maybe your baby just like massages . You might have an electrical ground that has corroded or loosened up. Maybe be tough to find though...

If you go the pasties at the top of this forum (which I just finished reading), there's a set of "owner tips" which are quite informative. One of them states that if you lock your keys in the car, you should shake the car and the door will unlock (or words to that effect). Whatever this sensor is that enables this to happen may have a relation to your "powerless" problem.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Can anyone tell me what the silver box is that is located on the passenger side behind the black panel where your feet rest. I believe that this might be casuing the issue.
