I also have the MX's and I think they are great. Performance wise they don't get the top rating, but for the price, more than better. If you don't auto-x or road race, they will do more than you are capable off. They are also a very nice looking tire. They have big tread blocks and look nice on the car. They are good in the rain compared to the stock F1's.
In my opinion they are a much better "street" tire than the F1, but the F1 will work better at the track. They also don't slide around in the cold like the F1's either and are MUCH cheaper.
I've had the FS WO on my02 Z06 for a couple of weeks now. Excellent tire and price. The fronts cost the same as the MX but the rears are almost $50 cheaper. If you get the FS WO front in 265/40-17 then that saves a few more bucks. So you've easily saved $50. I'm very happy with FS WO. Unlike most I had MX's before and didn't like them very much.
I'm saving my F1 SC for track days. They shine on the track for a street tire but are too expensive for daily driving. And they do get a little squirrely in the rain at half tread or less.

Well, so far I have had my toyo T1R's for about 3 weeks now, and I love them. My toss up was between the kuhmo and the toyo. Needless to say, I'm glad I got the toyo's. Both are great tires, so either one should work just fine.

They do however make a 275/40/17 which is the perfect compliment fo the 295/35/18 rear! That is the combo i am running in back and the combo I will be running in front as soon as my Nitto RIIS are complete gone in front!
Lots of tire squeal from my Wide Ovals when I get a little happy with the gas. The stockers were very quiet while spinning. Probably my only dislike of the WO's, well, except for the curb lip. They're cheap though!
I bought a set of the Firestone Wide Ovals for my 99 FRC - Z06 sizes on Z06 rims. All four had to be returned because they could not balance. Used a Hunter 9700 to do Road Force and all four tires failed. Moving on the rim didn't help either. They failed badly too. One more thing, they are about 1/2 inch narrower than the same size made by Goodyear or Kumho.
Using my second set of Kumho MXs now. IMHO, for a street tire (and it doesn't rain much in Phoenix AZ), they are a great value.

1/2"?? That's a lot! I currently have Michelin Pilot Sports...295/35/18...will they be a 1/2" narrower? Plus, how can it be that much narrower if the dimensions are the same?

DING, DING, DING...........Give that man a million dollars, as we finally have somebody who has experienced both tires at issues, and he give us his unbiased opinion, as oppossed to the average poster who just touts the product he choose. Looks like I made the right choice when i went with the KUHMOS recently, as my everyday day driver street tire!!
I ran MX’s on my Z07 91, and 2K FRC, street and local AutoX events - street tire class. Luke at Tire Rack put me in a set of FSWO’s while my size MX’s were out of stock. Cheaper, yes, but not as sticky. I don’t do too much rain driving, but had the fortune / misfortune of having to run MX’s in the rain at an AutoX – I couldn believe how good they ran. Noise between the two….that’s hard to say, I have LG LT’s and Corsa Indys. Using my GTechRR I pulled a 4.0sec 0 to 60 and 1.06 lateral G on the FSWO’s, I’ll post results on the MX’s if it ever warms up here in VA Bch VA!
Bottom Line. I drive my car like it owes me something every day, I usually bring it home with its tongue hanging out. With that in mind, when I’m spending that much money, a couple more bucks for MX’s is well worth the additional grip, street or course.
You know what I dont understand - Tire Rack rates the MX & GY GSD3's as Extreme and Max performance, but many people here saying FSWO seem to grip better. I would think MX as an extreme would outperform any Max or UHP tire ?

I guess I'm the avearage poster as I touted the product I chose, lol. I have a close firend of mine who has the kuhmos and he was dissatisfied with them for a couple of reasons ( Can't remember the specifics ). I chose the Toyo T1R route as it was a new tire on the market and many local tire distributors had good word on them. I do have the Kuhmos on My Dodge SS/T and am extremely happy with them. As for the Firestones, I can't comment. I have just never been enthused over Firestone tires.
Ahhh...I have MX's again........I just went out for a blast, bedding in a fresh set of Hawk HT10 brakes for an event this weekend, on a brand new set of MX's....I'll never run FSWO's again.....
