Default Valentine One saves me again

After reading a thread the other day about radar detectors
not being any good except for letting you know when you
got zapped, I can say I'm glad I don't believe that. However,
I also know even the best radar detectors are not fool proof.
I was running late today getting to work and running strong
on this road with almost no traffic, a road I travel almost every day.
At one section, my V1 always goes off, only medium strength
(X)signal. Today, the same signal goes off, except my "bogey counter"
says 2. So, I'm like, "A-ha, some LEO is sitting pretty at that signal."
Sure enough, after 30 seconds I pass a sitting LEO while doing the
speed limit. Pheew, that saved me $200 or more. Valentine One rules!

Can't even remember how many times my V1 has saved me on my daily commute and on long trips. Also, this is the end of the month and the gendarmes are out for blood.

Love the V1, the arrows and the bogey counter. Mine has paid for itself 10 times over.

The local police here are in love with their new laser guns. They've been setting up a speed trap a couple of times a month on my route to work...a couple of officers dismounted with the gun on a tripod, and 5 or 6 patrol cars lined up on the on-ramp behind them. Either my V1 gives me enough warning before they can lock on to my not-so-reflective front end or they're just kind to Corvettes. I'm seriously tempted to get one of those Blinder jammers, if I can figure out where to mount the transmitters.

I'm a V1 fan myself. Contrary to what some here seem to think, a good radar detector will detect the presence of a continously transmitting radar gun long before the radar gun gets a "read" on your vehicle. Instant on? Well, that's another story.

I love my Passport, but the V1 sounds like a product worth the price you pay for. Very cool!

Me = V1 and no speeding tickets, ever.

I had one before I knew how to drive.

It won't save you from laser though.

I just had a Passport SR7 plus insalled on my 04. I have allways had a radar detector in the car but I hate having it hanging on my windsheild so I just wasnt using it much. The SR7 Display is behinde the ashtray door and it has a remote LED on the guage cluster that flashes red when activated, The laser shifters are up next to the fog lights with a back laser shifter up over the plate. It even came with a button on the shifter console to turn off the shifters once you slow down so the officer gets a reading

What does the V1 do when encountering Laser? I borrowed my buds and was cresting a hill doing 9 over - he was hiding behind a bridge pillar in a 'perfect' spot and hit a group of 4 of us - saw lots of lines on the V1 and thats it - saw him look at his gun for an instant, like it was not reading or something.

Ideas?

I must say after speeding 400 bucks and over 4 years later it has been a very good investment!

From what I know, radar isn't exactly car-specific. That's why if you're traveling the road alone, and you get nailed with radar, you're pretty screwed -- but if you're in a pack of cars, then it's really up to the officer to determine who it was that he was hitting.

Laser, on the other hand, requires the officer to lock on one car with the gun, as the beam is tight (unlike the broad "cone" of radar). So, usually, the alert you get from the detector is YOU being hit with laser. So, it's usually "too late."

Maybe your friend got nailed with laser, but his speed wasn't "fast enough" for what the officers were ticketing that day... Who knows.
