Default clutch pedal problems

hey all, i have a little bit of a problem. When i race someone or just get into the throttle and shift fast, my clutch seems to loose pressure. First it feels like its become a mechanical clutch, and i can feel the response of the clutch to the engagement point, then from there on out it is very light, and if i keep in the throttle and shifting, then i loose almost all pressure in my system, last night my pedal stuck to the floor and within a min or so of slower driving and pumping the pedal the clutch goes back to normal. I know the clutch isn't slipping because i still pulled my buddies 03 cobra pretty good, and i dont really do launches in my car, if i run someone its for fun going at a roll so i'm not slipping it off a launch. Do you guys just think it may be my master or slave going out/ air in the line, or something a little more serious. I aslo bogged it in 4th 5th and 6th trying to see if the clutch would break free but it didn't and its engaging where it should.

Thanks for the help,
Nick

I just experienced this also. Do a search on "sticky clutch" and you will find all kinds of posts on this. Obviously, it is pretty common. I flushed the clutch fluid and haven't had a problem since. It's a scary feeling when it first happens though!!

Yoyu can also remove the assist spring.

The spring actually makes it easier to hold the petal to the floor!

Very common problem, many of us have and or had it. Most common cure is to get a real clutch and dump the stock POS. Silly me knowing nothing about Vettes when I got mine thought it had something to do with the AH or TC My clutch (when the car was stock) was very slow coming up at OT. After the H/C package the stock clutch was totally useless.....would just stick to the floor at WOT, it was yanked 2 weeks later.

I am currently having the same issue with my 2000 C5. It seems as their are many "answers" to why it happens. But to fix it correctly, it is going to involve changing out the whole clutch system (i.e. Pressure plate, flywheel, master, and slave cylinder). I'm going with the LS7 clutch set-up myself!

Good Luck!

somewhere there is an article on drilling out pilot hole in slave . hopefully FactoryRaceCar will chime in as we did this to his last summer when we did the clutch swap . it allows fluid to flow better.

As mentioned the stock clutch is a POS. I had this problem with my 1999 Z28 and replaced it with a ZO6 clutch and within a year the same thing started back up, so I replaced the master clutch cylinder with a McCloud and never had an issue, the clutch fluid was able to flow better and typically what happens the fluid gets hot and has a bad porblem flowing, the McCloud provided a much greater line for flow.

When I wanted to pick up real fast (almost red line shifting), my clutch would get stuck to the floor on the shift from second to third. The dealer that I go to had the clutch replaced under my extended warranty with a Z06 clutch... they did the whole thing...

Same thing happened to me at the track once.

Going to go to the dealer and beg for a new setup. Covered of course!
