Default Help with Alternator and Bracket

I put a chip in the in the pulley at the botton of the pic. So am I correct in assuming that I need to get a new one. I think I need to remove the pulley to get to several bolts also. Do I just remove the plastic tab that holds the pulley on?

Whats the trick to remove the power steering box? Does it just slide off the bracket?

These are the thre wires that need to be sodered off.

What do I need to do to crack this thing? I have took the 4 long black bolts out and the three nuts off.

Thanks for the help!

I've been following past threads about this subject for sometime now and what I gleamed from that info was that you would next disconnect power steering hoses from the pump, the bolts that hold the bracket to the cyclinder head are a bitoch to get out but you can do it. Remove bracket and pump together. THey say it is best to remove pump from bracket while out of the car. As for the Alternator, I think you need to get your hands on a gear/pully puller now and remove that pully.

I was all set to do this same work this weekend but through my back out and can't bend over to do this work. Keep us posted as to progress with this work.

Well I got the bracket removed. It was a pain getting to some of the bolts. Then I had to remove the power sterring hoses and it was off. Now I just have to remove the three wires to the alternator and remove the guts.....I think.

Bob what are you using to un-solder the three wires? A electric soldering iron or something else? Have you removed the pully's from both the alternator and the pump? How did you get them off? Also I'm told there is a small bearing in the alternator that has to come out before you send to the plater. Did you know this?

Ok, i'm a little confused...which pulley are you pulling? Power steering? or Alternator? If you're trying to do alternator...that's jsut a plastic cap in front of the pulley...and there's a nut there, you might want to try that.

I removed the alternator and bracket. I left the alternator teardown to a friend who is a mechanic. I tried an electric sodering iron and it would not remove the soder on the three wires. I had to remove the power steering pump when I removed the alternator bracket. Sorry for any confusion.

Chris
Hey Chris how about the pump pulley? Is that held on by a nut or is it pressed on with a keyway?
Thanks

I know this is not directed towards me but I think the power steering pump pulley is held on by a plastic tab and a copper washer type thing. Look in the first pic you can see the plastic tab I am talking about. I may be wrong, it has happened once or twice before.

Sorry Bob didn't ,mean to hijack your thread and I'll take your word for it that it is held on with the plastic tab and copper washer. I'll find out this coming weekend.

I'm not exactly sure how the power steering pulley comes off, but i've been told it requires a special puller. I've got a brand new unused power steering pulley in my spare bedroom, but it has been decided not to be installed by the owner. After speaking with Mike Norris and several other installers.
