I bought a set of used chrome wheels from Bob at House of Wheels and when they arrived I found the inside barrels were all painted black with some type of epoxy paint. Do you think this was done when the original GM wheels were plated ?
I am thinking of removing this paint; as it is peeling in places. I am thinking whatever is below the paint cant be that bad.
Do you think bead blasting or any kind of blasting would damage the chrome? Or would a wire wheel on the end of a dremel be a better choice? Do you have any ideas to get rid of this paint?
to hide somthing OR to be lazy about the accumulation of brake dust and how it looks (black inside of wheel = no cleaning). be carefull when you remove it.
good luck!
P.S. why wouldn't they tell you that the inside of the wheels were painted...that's very strange.

This vendor enjoys a pretty good rep around here - I'm sure if you called them and spoke to them, they will work it out with you. Before you try anything (and possibly make a bigger problem), I'd give Bob a call.

Unfortunately, the service is only good when a set is being sold. Trust me, I know what its like to deal with H.O.W.when theres a warranty problem..
Bob is cool, if it ain't right he will fix it, those wheels were shipped from CA probably and Bob probably never saw them. He is a standup guy. Call him.
