Headlight Help Please God!!?!
So the past two months my passenger side headlight has been grinding for about 5 seconds after turning them off. No problem, know thats the motor.
Than this past month the drivers side headlight(when turned off) drops down and then pops back up about halfway and stays. I was having to manually lowere the headlight myself every night.
So i finally decide to work on them. I buy the brass gear from rodneys site. I turned the headlights on, shut the car off, and disconnected the battery. Took the passenger headlight assembly out, unbolted the motor, took out the cheap stock plastic gear(which had the teeth chipped to hell and back). Anyways, installed the new gear. Reassembled everything. Hooked the battery back up and the headlights turn on fine but wont go down.
I have to manually lower them and raise them now. No grinding anymore, no headlight popping up and down anymore. Easy, because neither motor is working now. Neither one is even doing anything. This doesnt make sense since I didnt even mess with the drivers side one so why both motors completely unresponsive? I checked most of the fuses, they looked alright. What could possibly have happened??!? please anyone any help asap and I would owe you so bad. Thank you
Kyle

I would crank them all the way up manually, check those connections and then crank them back down manually. When you pull the connector, look inside and make sure none of the contacts are dirty or bent. Make sure you hear an audible "click" when you connect both of them (the smaller one and the larger one). Make sure that the contacts didn't get flattened and that there is some spring tension in the contact so that the female side (on the wires) is making good tight contact with the male side on the actuator itself.
Good luck - let us know how you fare......
FYI: Also, once you get the lights working again, I am willing to bet money your drivers side will pop right back up again halfway. Your tabs are shot. You need to get about three washers and place them on all the bolts (3 x 3) that will push the motor out far enough to catch a good part of the tabs, or you can get some hard tubing and extend your tabs.
