Hey guys and gals,
We've had ALOT of you email us and ask if we had better alternative to a rear storage tray for the C5 and C6 Corvettes. I have attached an image of a rear organizer we are getting ready to tool up. The lids will be hinged and have locks available as well. There are also two cup holders and a small open pocket for storing some loose items. I am wondering what YOU think of it and what YOU would like to see in a storage tray. Why make something that doesn't fit the needs of most of the people? These will be in the same texture as other plastic interior components and have a matte finish. these will be offered in black and dark grey, but other colors might be available too. There would be carpet or rubber matting in the bottoms of the compartments and on the lids as well if the majority of people wanted it. Let me know what you think.
Are they made with the disposable Gladware things? I have seen some that are.
If not then you might have a hot seller on your hands. Good luck
No-- these are NOT made with foam from the home center or Glad Ovenware containers. These are completely vacuum formed units-- all original parts, nothing from anywhere else except the locks if people liked that idea.
Take out the drink holders and tray in the middle and put the second compartment there. Move the compartments towards the pax side.
Think out of the box, your piece looks great, it's symmetrical and stuff but it's not as functional as it could be. Ignore symmetry and go for function over form.
Put the compartments where the driver can reach them as easy as possible, over behind the pax seat.
Make a secret compartment behind the driver for a pistol or wallet.

Brian, Count me in as long as it looks as OEM as possible. If the plastic matches the rear compartment area your OEM carpet would accent the lids and your OEM partition you made for me as well. What is your time frame spring is coming up fast.
Jeff-- good hearing from you. If your in Naperville again, let me know. Grab a burger or something.
Time frame is within the next month to start pulling parts off the molds. I wanted to run these concepts past the members to see what the consumer wants to see in a storage tray.
IMHO the lids are a waste of time and money. My use would be to keep stuff from sliding around the rear end. I would put cellphone, digital camera, mail, etc in them and don't need the lid. If I need to lock something up I have the console or glovebox. Also I would suggest you make them deeper.
Eddie-- Thanks for the input-- had others tell me deeper too.....
I currently have two rubbermaid baskets velcro'd to the carpet. There is one behind each seat. They are probably 8"x12" and about 3"-4" deep. My top still goes down with them in place. They are a great place to stash the sunglasses, camera, phone, etc. I'd love to find something that looked more like orig equip.

I like the deeper and w/o lids. As I said, I tend to use them just to keep stuff from sliding around. In the vert a digital camera will slide all the way to the back of the trunk if it's not contained. At 3" I believe you'd be able to leave it in place on the vert even with the top down. Looks very
Now the only thing would be matching carpet colors or making it cheap enough that folks wouldn't mind painting it to match their particular carpet. Nice job
I really do appreciate the input guys. These will be available with, or without the lids. I see them being available towards the end of the month. Thanks again.
