Default Running with out exhuast????

So I sold my GLH exhuast so basically I have been driving around with open H-pipe... it really sounds pretty good and it isn't that load...

I was wondering if anyone had ever just ran there car like this.. I am sure if I will leave it like this but I don't want to hurt it driving around with out it...

I wouldn't think it would but you never now

I'm wondering about this too. A guy in my club is running pipes straight back from the cats (no mufflers) and it sound very good, especially at WOT.
Also have an idea of putting electric cutouts just before the mufflers so you could get loud every now and then.

your only helping your FI motor out there buddy.. motors like the least amount of restriction gettin that exhaust out!

i have cutouts on mine, and i gained 12rwhp from them! i love mine. i mean, u go from stealthy quiet to a loud, funny car sounding monster! of course, im not a stock motor though, but the stockers even sound hella good!!!

do a seach for cutouts on here, there a ton of threads...

ohh and to answer your question, no your not hurting the car by running without mufflers...

I don't think that it would hurt. I ran open headers on my '70 SS 396 Nova many, many years ago and the only downside was the noise and the fact that it melted the undercoating. Ahhh, the exuberance of youth.

One concern would be exhaust fumes into the car without extensions

Do you have the cats on it? When I had my exhaust apart no cats, no mufflers, but pipes to the rearend I had to take it for a ride and it sounded horrible , and I like a loud exhaust note . Exhaust cutouts are great I have them on another car.

Default no muffs

I have been running no mufflers for over a week and i really like the sound. I had my exhaust guy cut off the resonator, and take off the stock mufflers, then add pipes onto where it comes over the axle and connect them to stainless y-tips that tu rn up on the end. It sounds good and looks cool!! It does feel like I gained some midrange power!

Well this isn't going to make the Borla and Corsa mfg's happy to hear. However, I am all . While I'm not interested in no mufflers at all, I think I'm warming up to the idea of the electric bypass fittings. How much are they in comparison to a set of Borla Stingers or even a used Z06 titanium set? Are they a DIY install? They've gotta be illegal in some states, right? Never mind. I'll do a search.
