Default Lowering Question with New Pic!

Just got done, easiest flippin thing I have done yet That always scares me.

I realized that you do not get tha instant gratification once off the jacks. i.e. settled about 1/4 inch. Not driven yet.

1.) So, drive it, let it settle, about how long before she gets set in?

2.) Are you guys using any thread lock? I found I could relieve the tension on springs and turn bolts by hand.

I did leave full bolt threads on nut.

3.) Any serious issues experienced with alignment? Do i need to rush to get realigned after it settles in?

Good day to all and thanks in advance for help!

Good Question....That's what I want to know, how long and how much it will settle....it's driving me crazy to see it I dropped mine two weeks ago, but have not driven it at all.

Mod fever kills me I hate having my car in a million pieces and not being able to drive it ! ! !

Oh well, I just keep telling myself this will all be worth it once she rolls out of the garage.....

Hi gr8vet -

Good job!

I did not notice any real settling on any of ours after the first drive -

Not an ememrgency to get an alignment, but do it as soon as it fits in your schedule - I went a few months with my Z with no problems - it was not out of align, but our 99 coupe needed an adjustment in the rear.

best regards -

It is a relatively easy mod...

Drive it around the block a couple times, you want to exercise the suspension (don't go looking for pot holes, but find some dips, etc. to move the suspension around).

No thread lock. I also found I could take the pressure off the spring and adjust the bolt fairly easy. Some folks have stuck bolts.

I got an alignment done after I lowered mine and the alignment was still in specs. I still recommend everyone get an alignment after lowering, but it isn't one of those things you need to rush out and do top priority.

Enjoy ...

It took mine about 3-5 days of driving for it to settle and it settled at least an inch.....at least. (sorry, I didn't measure it before, only after, don't know what I was thinking)

I hear ya! I would like to do a new cam and heads, BUT, here we are at spring and really hate to get the car in 900 pieces with sunny days and 75 degree weather coming.

Ya'll got any cruises and/or cool stuff going on in TN soon, we be needing a road trip toward your way.

Thanks for all,

Hi gr8vet -

If you told CCW that you were putting the wheels on a C5, they will not rub.

My Z has the same sizes and is lowered - no rubbing.

Thanks, and I did let Chip know it was a c5. Good to know I won't have to take the wheels off but one more time, whew!

tt, had a great time, tonight lowering my vette. Thanks for the help.

I am at 26 5/8 on the front and 27 7/8 on rear, which is very close to 1" all the way around. No scraping, so far. The sway bar doesn't squeak anymore, either. That is great. Thanks for the grease.

Forgot I had the jack in the back, and got on it a little too hard...CLUNK!...Oops! No damage, but scared me a bit. Though a wheel was falling off.

I think I might be going to the World of Wheels tomorrow or Saturday. I gotta go see what David has done to Slick, and hang out with the MACC club a bit.

Yea! Another satisfied customer Now you be pimping, Pleasure was mine.

Not sure if I am gonna make the show, kinda got my hands full at moment , want to go though for sure. Funny on the jack, sounds like me, always a little gun shy after doing something to the ride.

BTW, we hooked up with Dennis and Pat at Impatient Creations, super nice guys, great testimony, we did some shirts for him for the show.

Best to ya , be safe coming back home!

From my experience, the front will have a more immediate effect than the back...
