I have noticed a new sound recently. Try to imagine a full can of corn rolling around in one of the rear storage compartments. Sort of a "jiggling" "thumping" sound in rapid succession, when going over a washboard ripply surface at low speed. I even hear it when going slowly over normal expansion joints, like someone rapping/tapping their fingers along the underbody.
Almost like an exhaust pipe hitting the underbody sort of sound. But when I go and look under the car, nothing is even close. Nothing is loose. Nowhere. I'm stumped as to what it could be.
And PLEASE, don't any of you even dare suggest I look and see if there is a can of corn in the storage compartment.
The best as I can tell, it's coming from around the rear axle housing...but then again at times it seems as if its up closer to the area of the oil pan.
Could it be the body of the Corvette is simply "flexing"? Oh, btw, it's an A4 '04 coupe.
Make sure the spring loaded hangers that hold your h-pipe up are taunt and not loose. I had a similar noise in my car that was driving me nuts and this is where is was coming from.
