Has anyone used one of the small covers that only goes over the cockpit when the top is down. I just bought my Vette in November and I am thinking that the sun will really heat up those black seats when I park it in the summer. Are they any good? Can anyone recommend one?
What you're looking for is a tonneau cover. Used to use them on sportscars like MGs, Healys, etc. Problem is you have to install snaps on the car body to attach the cover and they look bad. Best bet is to lay white towels over the seats. I installed sheepskin covers which worked great, but looked tacky.

It takes me less than 20 seconds to flip the top back up. I think it would take longer to put on a tonnough cover. If I want to leave the top down for any reason I just fold the seats forward

I have one that came with the car. I think it came via Ecklers and has tabs that slip under the trunk lid; straps that slip over the door handles. Final tie down is via velcro adhered straps that slip around the mirrors and through the windshield wiper arms.
I use it frequently because the sun in AZ can be brutal. Keeps the interior cool and clean. As to why to not simply use the top - same reason - the sun is brutal and will destroy a top over time. When I am parking outside for a long period, I will put the top up and cover the car with a car cover, but for a short time while shopping or visiting, the tonneau cover is perfect.

Flip the top up ... normally only fasten the driver side and 3 clicks on the fob, the windows are up too.

I really liked mine and used it often until I got my window valet.
Haven't used it since. Takes at least twice as long to put on as raising the top. Most of the time I just put the top up and don't latch it. Had it rained on a couple of times, and even with neither latch locked, not a drop in the car.

C'mon you guys, the sports seats are perforated for goodness sakes. Don't be such weenies. Just sit on the leather, take the heat for a few seconds and bear up like a man.
Putting the top up is by far the easiest, least expensive, practical and attractive option if you really fear being scorched by the leather.
I have a 00 TR vert. The top is only up in the summer to wash it. I put on Wet Okole's. The fit is good, the comfort is great and there's no heat.
Yeh, I know, they arn't perfect. I know what it looks like when the covers are off. nobody has to tell me. i have had them off to wash them and the seats are perfect. 50K miles too!
