Since I have purchased a 3:42 rear end with a aftermarket TC, I know I will have to but a B&M transmission cooler, but didn't the C5's particulary my 98 (A4) already come with a transmisson cooler.
If, so what is the big difference between stock and B&M. Do I need to take the stock one off to insert the B&M.
Another question is where can I find a really high end transmission cooler, the B&M is $55.00 - $65.00. It just seems kind of low to be such an important piece to the car?
The tranny cooler we all have is intergrated into the radiator. Depending on how high the stall rating really determins if you need an external cooler. IMO anything under a 2600-2800 might not need one. However, you cannot go wrong installing the external cooler. I've used B&M and have had good luck. Recently a member did a great install if your mechaniclly inclined. Try a search, that's how I'll install my next cooler. Good Luck
You should install the B&M cooler in line with the stock cooler. If you live way up north where it's cold most of the time, run it before the stock cooler. If you live farther south where the temps get outrageous in the summer, install it after the stock cooler.
$65 for the b&m unit is without the cooling fan I believe. I wouldn't chance it and spend the extra 100 for the one with the cooling fan, but that's just MHO and experience. The automatic transmissions in these things can cause headaches if given the chance.

Damn,
I purchased the B&M super cooler wothou the fan. Can you buy the fan after thr fact. I purchased mine from SPEED INC! Also, where should I install it if I was transferring to Kansas! I think I will get both extremes!
