Default Optima Red Top Battery

My 2001 battery died and wanted to get the Optima Red Top (Mag Red painted covers inside) and wanted to know the part number as I went to Auto Zone and had a couple different mode numbers as they were out of stock. Thanks alot.

There are two different versions of the red top. Get the 34/78. It's the one that has 800 Cold Cranking Amp capacity and is the better choice of the two. It costs a bit more than the other (35/75) version, but worth it. The parts seller there may try to tell you the 35/75 is "what's recommended/listed" for C5's and he/she/it may be right. About the listing that is. Get the 34/78 even if you have to order it in. Trust me you won't regret it.
HTH,
Robert

The 75/35 (also now known as the 75/25) is 720 cca. The 34/78 is 800 cca - a little bigger and a little heavier. Both will fit with no issues, and you won't be making a mistake with either one. Personally I have a 75/35 that I bought 2 1/2 years ago - and have not had one issue with it.

And if you buy the 34/78, they also sell a battery top for that model that covers the 2 top posts. Much neater.

More cranking power and I've left the car sitting in the garage for several months without a tender on it, started right up.

I put the 34/78 in mine over four years ago. Never a single problem with it.

Sam's Club sells the Exide Orbital spiral cell Battery under their NASCAR XLT brand with a 3 year warranty for $95 ( 35 series) or $99 ( 34 series)
It is a good alternative at a good price with a great warranty
