Cats/x-pipe only.
I didn't find a thread specific to this question, so, has anyone ever done exhaust mods limited to just high flow cats and an x-pipe - leaving stock manifolds and Ti mufflers in place?
I was thinking of doing just the cats/x-pipe, CAI, and a tune to my '02 Z and was wondering if there are dyno numbers out there.
I realize the big gains come with headers, just looking at options to pick up some HP while keeping cost and effort in mind.

From what I have read, it seems the most restrictive piece of the exhaust on an 02-04 ZO6 is the Stock exhaust manifolds..
As you know, the stock cats were changed in 02.. GM eliminated the pre-cats, and changed the main cats to a higher flow design..
This is why I dont quite understand why everyone always replaces the cats on a ZO6 when they upgrade the headers.. The cats are like the mufflers.. Very efficient from the factory.
I know one vendor (Texas speed and performance) is working on LT headers for ZO6's, that will take advantage of the stock Cats..They are supposed to hook right up to the stock cats, by way of some kind of connecting tubes. I am really looking forward to checking them out when they become available.!
My guess is, it will offer similiar performance to all $1600 systems for just a 600.00 price tag.. Not to mention it will probably throw NO codes because of it using the stock cats, and will also be easier to install.
