Under the hood lamp???

So I have this problem. The under the hood light does not work. I replaced my lamp and it still does not work and to make matters worse its draining my battery very rapidly? So I took out the lamp and charged the battery left the hood open and the battery holds its charged?
Any ideas out there.

check the wire for chafes at the hood hinge or anyplace the wire might com into contact with metal. Sounds like a dead short to me.

It must be on the outbound side then (+) or removing the bulb wouldn't cure it.

Where is the switch located that turns the hood lamp on?

There isn't a switch so to speak. It is either mercury or type of gravity, when it is level it goes off, when it is at an angle it is on.

Even at that guys it should only have power for about 15 minutes. At tha time the CPU shuts off the power to avoid the drainage you are describing.
