Being the cheap bastage that I am, I will probably change the seal rather than the pump ($20 -vs- $200). Anyone had this issue before? Never seen it posted here and nuthin on the search.

Can't help you but I was wondering what sort of sound if any a leaky pump makes... I get a whine at some points when I'm turning--can't tell if its the swaybar or the steering...

No sound, just a few drops here and there on the garage floor...
My '97 had a leak last summer. Mine was the high pressure line from the pump to the rack. I went ahead and replaced all the lines including the power steering cooler. I got all of the parts from Gene @ Fread Beans. With the help of Razor2430 we fixed it up in a couple of hours. No trouble since. Good luck. B
