I'll try again. Who has the chrome wipers on the yellow vet with the painted yellow cowl under the wipers? I need to ask him a question about painting the cowl.

Well, I finally found you. I want to paint my cowl and my painter asked me about the texture of the finished product. He said if I want it to look smooth like the car, it would be twice the work . Or does he just paint directly over the black plastic and then it would have a textured look. Exactly how was yours painted and also I was thinking about just painting the wipers mag red also instead on chroming them. Are your wipers holding up ok; my vet stays outside all the time but covered. I forgot what you said about what you do with the screens. Thanks for your help. Doug I guess i should have PM'd you.
Your painter should use a hi-build primer/filler, and it should smooth out the cowl texture. I'm pretty sure that's all my painter did..as I can still sometimes see a hint of the plastic grain in just the right light. Overall, it looks smooth though.
Otherwise, you could sand it down..you should be able to do that yourself, just go over the whole thing with a 220 grit or so sandpaper to knock the texture off.
As for the screen, pry it out, being careful to keep it intact. it's glued in many spots. After painting, use epoxy or a hot glue gun to resecure it.
The wipers are holding up fine. No complaints at all.
There's a chromed set for sale right now on the parts forum - that's the guy I bouht mine from.
