Just finished installing my Magnaflow cat back on my '01 - sound is nice, deep rumble, although I haven't driven it yet or heard it on the highway (still up on jackstands).
Alignment of tips is awsum and seemed easy - gotta double check all bolts for tightness and check for leaks tomorrow -
As far as removing the factory cat backs - I did it without a lift and up on jacksands - I had about 32 - 33 inches between the LOWER part of the rear fascia and the floor - then, when I removed each side, I had to remove the opposite side jackstand (remove pass side factory cat back necessitated temporarily removing the jackstand holding up the DRIVERS side of the car & vice-versa) in order to be able to swing the factory cat backs out
The drivers side was easy, seemed like plenty of room to manuver - the pass side was way tighter and I needed to have someone help - however, once we coordinated our efforts and each understood what the other was directing them to do, the pass side factory cat back came off fairly easy - probably about 10- minutes
Installing the Magnaflows probably took all of 20 minutes.
I always thought I wanted oval tips out the back, but I LOVE!!! the Magnaflow round tips which are slightly angle cut towards the pavement. Also, there is a plate that bolts between the mufflers that kind of helps hold the tips straight and looks AWSUM as well at the same time.
Magnaflow was the first of several catbacks I have had and they were, by far, the best quality. The sound was awesome in terms of tone but a bit too quiet after I added heads/cam. They are fully polished and many install them in show cars. I also made a custom exhaust plate to go over the Magnaflow center tie plate.
Lucky me- my '00 came with Magnaflows already installed. (The sound is awesome!) What do you guys recommend to keep the pipes polished? Mother's seems to work fairly well.
I am also a very satisfied Magnaflow owner. I actually had the very first C5 exhaust that was released for sale after the prototypes. At the time they made me a very good deal to have them on a car on the street to see how they would perform with daily stress. I was totally happy. A few years later I had a minor problem with one of the little brackets that hold the center plate having cracked at the weld. They completely replaced the entire exhaust system at their expense including all shipping costs both ways. They wanted to evaluate why it cracked and also told me they had made some improvements since I had gotten mine. Not only do I like the sound and quality, but their service is excellent, too.

I got mine from L.A.P.D. about 5 years ago and they still look like new with 45,000 or more miles on them. I still think they are the best sounding system there is. I do have their X-Pipe also. If I ever get a newer Corvette the first Mod for Me will be Magniflow exhaust.
