Default Flappy cloth in a vert?

I was driving my friends 99 vert last night with the top up, and that flappy material piece that covers the top of the waterfall was bugging the crap out of me... what is that piece and what does it functionally do other than annoy the crap out of me

I was wondering about that too. I believe it's a pressure blowout vent. It is rather annoying.

It does't bother me at all. I spend most of my time looking through the windshield and instrument pod, not at the cloth behind the seats. I think it provides a nice, finishing touch to the interior when the top is up.

I would guess that it's function is to prevent glare from the sun from bouncing off the hatch cover paint and hitting the rear glass, thereby reducing visibility, which it might do if the cloth wasn't there.
