Default 2001 vs. 2002 Z06 HP

Simple math shows the following:

405 hp is only 5.2% more than 385 hp.

Dyno results on '01's ranged from, say 335 RWHP to 345 RWHP, a 3.0% (insignificant) difference, which COULD be due to differing dynos, OR COULD be due to differences in engine strength between cars.

Bottom line: 2002's are up 5.2% claimed, plus or minus a possible 3.0% variance (assuming all our dynos are the same), so
this is not a data question. It just depends on what '01 you own, and what '02 you get.

My '02 makes 2% more power (same dyno) than my '01. It feels much stronger in mid to top range to me, and sounds much better.

Most important of all, my '01 (342 rwhp w/ mods) always made nasty pushrod noises that my '02 does not, so it feels like a $50,000 car, and the '01 did not.

I am very satisfied with the '02 upgrade, which cost me $6,200 all in.

The real question is: after spending close to $50K for the '01 (car + taxes & license), getting rid of the '01, spending another $6,200 (now for a total of $56K)...can you objectively compare the two cars? With that much invested in the decision to change to the '02, anyone would WANT to believe they made the best move. S.O.P. feelings are usually what you want them to be. Everyone that gets a new intake and spends $200-$300 says that the car is "much" faster... human nature rarely lets us say: "boy did I make a big mistake & waste my money on that marginal POS!". Just my $.02 -HarleyB

On the other hand, I just compared my 02 with an 01 and there IS a difference. 02 "seems" quicker, smoother, and sounds different.

If I had a 2001 I don't think I'd sell it to get a 2002, however I don't have any Z06 so choosing between the two is a no brainer for me.
