Default Which Bilstein shock?

Planning on replacing the stock shocks in my 99 Vette. Which Bilstein shock is appropriate if I'm not lowering the car? Sport or HD? I've read conflicting post on the Internet concerning this.

From what I have read the Sports are firmer than the HD. The sports have been compared to the 04 z06 shocks but are better if you lower your ride.

If you do alot of interstate traveling and NO racing you may be happier with the HD. I am on the fence too, I dont need a shock yet but wouldnt mind a little more control on rough roads without breaking my back.

The 06 z06 shocks (from what I read) are firmer than the 04 z06 shock and Sports. It all depends on what you need or want.

Default 2004 ZO6 shocks

I put the 2004 ZO6 shocks on my 98. I was going to get Blisteins but I have read many times from this forum that if you do not race the 2004 ZO6 shocks are the better street use high performance shocks to use. The 2006 ZO6 shocks are much less expensive but I have heard they really stink on a C5 for the street. I could not be happier with these shocks. I am going to install the ZO6 springs front & rear soon. I have the standard suspension now with ZO6 sway bars and the 2004 ZO6 shocks and it is like night and day from what I had. I'm probably going to mess things up replacing my springs but you know how stupid Mod fevor is.

If your not going to lower it , and want something closer to a stock ride go HD. If you want the car to a bit firmer Sport. Either one is gonna be fimer than stock, the sport is about 20% firmer than the hd's and thats it, same size and all the same guts . Most people are gonna say sport , I went with hd's, and have done so in the past with other cars and am happy with the ride and handling

Even if you don't race- I say go with the sports! I have them on my 97 Z51 and they are awesome! I don't race auto-x (drag every once in a while at the track) but she is my daily driver...I love the firmness the sports have...they are a nice compliment to the Z51 suspension...

when I got mine from them - there was an online coupon for like 20% off or something to that effect...I paid $265 shipped...brand new in the box - can't be beat seeing how 04 Z06 shocks are going for almost twice that price!

I put the HD on mine along with the Z06 swaybars and lowered it all at the same time. It does corner flatter now and has a good feel. I like the HD's for daily driving as it is not to harsh but way better than stock shocks. I have not been in a car with the Sports so I can't really compare the two. Bilsteins build an awesome shock and I better you would be happy with either one.
