I have a 98 Coupe A4, I want to get the HUD option installed. I live in the Northern Burbs of Detroit. How much should this purchase and install costs. Does the dealers do this type of install ? Any inforamtion would be appreciated.

I added HUD to my Y2k coupe. Not a bad job. Fred Beans has the HUD for just over $300. You will have to find a newer cluster for 98.
Good Luck

Projector is 1100 bucks ?? Wow, now that is pricey !! What would the labor for this work come to. I would also guess that most people don't have this added, since the parts alone cost 1300 bucks. Thanks for the info on this.

Call Gene at Fred Beans Gene . Those prices on Josh's web page ARE VERY OLD. You can get the projector and control for $300.
shouldn't cost more than $200 for the install, it only takes about an hour to remove the cluster and dash cover, not a difficult;
try posting in your regional section, to see if someone may help you
I just did this exact install last weekend! I live about 20 minutes from you. My zip is 48371. I used all of the website mentioned above, but noticed that all of them lack some information. I did my own write up but it is saved as a word document. If you have an email i can send it to you!
Also, I really enjoy working on these cars so if you need any help im here for ya.
I did my ENTIRE install and all of my parts only cost me 450 dollars including the projector, cluster, bezel, wire harness, and switch although i did get a pretty good deal.
The only thing thats different is I have a manual trans so removing the radio/hvac surround may be slightly different with the A4. Other than that, the hard part is putting the dash back in- two people are needed to make it easier.
