Default Placement of Body Side Moldings

I am having some body side moldings put on my 99 today. Can anyone give me some advice on how to mount these so that I get them on like the factory? How far from bottom of door? Thanks in advance. Just PM me.

The best spot to place them is in the trash...

Why do you want to booger up the beautiful lines of the C-5?

The bottom of the door to the bottom of the BSM is about 9 1/2" at the front of the door and about 10 7/8" toward the rear of the door (before the bottom starts to curve up).
That should get you in the ballpark.
Make sure you prep the surface well and use an adhesive promoter before applying.
Good luck!

Before you do this, read some old posts. Many comments that the BSMs are too low to be effective

well, yes they are not very effective when you park next to an SUV or large auto. but for the most part they will help because the majority of newer cars today are smaller/lower. besides i think that they look fine on the car...they were designed for it by GM styling.

From the GM Service Manual:

Top of fender to the top of molding is 335mm (13.2 in).
Bottom of key-hole opening to top of molding is 195mm (7.8 in).
Front edge of molding is positioned 5mm (0.20 in) rearward of the front edge of the door.

I don't have BSM, but would have gladly bought a car with them. All you guys telling him to throw 'em in the trash need to step off and give this guy a break. He didn't ask your opinion on whether or not to install them. If he wants them on, leave him alone! If you cannot assist with his simple and polite question, then shut the F up! Nobody asked for my 2 cents either, so there you go.

Thanks for the help. I put them on and they look great. I realize they may not protect much, but anything helps in the parking lot wars.

I gotta agree here. Too many people that do/do not like something jumping in to give opinions when none was asked for.
Glad you got the help you asked for FASTFORM.

They make a pretty good spot on the wall so you don't open your door into them

That was my first response, in the TRASH! Looks so much better without them.

Don't do it, step away from the BSM's, we will get you some help.

I love mine! I actually think they improve the looks and look a heck of a lot better than some of the other appearance mods out there!...IMHO of course

Where did you get the BSM?????

Probably from the dealer. I'll check with them. I like the idea. I try to park away from the store I'm going to so as to get away from having a car on either side of me. But then sometimes yah got no choice and if these babies protect against door dings and look okay....

Again, I say the garage wall... so you don't hit the garage wall with your door

Everytime I see someone ask this question people jump in and flame them. They did not ask if you have them or like them.Go pick on exhaust plates or logo valve caps and give the BSM,s a rest.
