I just noticed a coolant leak coming from my reservoir tank. I thought the hose had a crack, but it did not. So, I pulled the hose off, and found it was the piece you put the hose over. It has a pinhole leak, and I cannot seal it up. Anyone have some suggestions?
New tank, that's the only lasting fix for the plastic. You can try heating it up and melting it together, but it'll probably not hold. You've probably already tried epoxy and JB Weld and have found that they don't expand at the same rate as the plastic when it gets hot under the hood, and will eventually fail.
I recently replaced the radiator in my Camaro. One of the plastic endcaps had a minor leak. I tried everything to fix it, but nothing worked for more than a few weeks. I gotta agree with the suggestion to get a new tank.
GMPartsdirect has it listed for $35.45 (of course this is not genuine gm part). Don't forget to add shipping. I've heard people sing this sites praises and others have said to avoid it like a 12 should avoid Mikey at the Neverland Ranch.
GM part number is 10430189 (this is the one for my 01) I don't think the tank changed with model years. Not sure though.
I have a Love/Hate with GMpartsdirect. I love the lower prices, but I hate it cause it takes FOREVER to get your part.
I checked the site...I got a different part number.
Here is what I got: Coolant Tank 97-99 10405218
I just called a local dealer...they wanted $71.00 and he said it included the sensor. They can have tomorrow, GMpartsdirect $45.00, but will get it in about a month.
