That makes a little sense from a “Type A” personality perspective I suppose. But I think you’re missing entirely the perspective from which many of us view fast cars. It’s about the adrenaline rush. Why do some people like to ride roller coasters? Why do some people skydive? It’s not always about competition. It has to do with the thrill that you personally receive from it. Do you have sex to impress people, or do you do it because it feels good???

why do people buy multi million dollar homes? because they can and want it. It's the need vs the greed, greed seems to be winning when ya have more green flowing

You do not know Bill, but I do - and I can tell you that you're talking complete trash.

Bill's Vert has a 758rwhp C5R 427 - and he does not race. Why? Because he used to compete on the SCCA tracks so he already knows how to drive and does not have the need to show off or impress anyone.

He built his car to enjoy. Is that too hard to understand?

Don't assume that because someone owns a fast car that they drive fast - or dangerously - or stupidly.

I would love to increase the hp of my car, but I don't have the $$$ nor the know-how to do it my self. Actually, I hate getting into something that is not broken. For me, it always turns out to be 4 times as much hassle as it started out to be, and a lot of the times, it doest turn out right. You should see what I recently did to my bathroom toilet. It was not pretty.
So...I'll probably leave my car pretty much stock and suffer. But it's still a vette!!!

i have read all the data in this thread and one of the most rational explanation must be the 'smoking the tires at 80mph' statement, is that badazz or what??

i often wonder why people have 3,4,5000 sq ft houses instead of 3,4,5 bay garages w/ lift(s)?
