c5 z06 versus c6 base model
i have been looking to buy an o4 z0 6 but prices remain in the 36k - 40 k range so i am now considering a new c6 they are discounted from 39-40k base model. have any c5 z0 6 owners driven the new c-6 . wondering how they compare. style & looks not taken into account as i know some people prefer the c-5 looks. h.p & torque are pretty close. thanks steve

Haven't driven a C6 and I was weighing both cars myself late last year. I decided on an 04 Z based on the performance edge going to it over the C6 with the Z51 handling package. That spread would be more if you are considering the base model. Keep in mind that an 04 Z has seen a large part of it's depreciation already. Good luck in your decision.

I like the C6, But I LOVE my C5, I would not buy one now but if I was just now looking to buy a vette and you look at dollar for dollar if both have same (similar) performance for the same price (or very close) I would buy the new one - I can break it in myself and KNOW its been taken care of from day one. You will longer on the warrantee too. But that’s just my opinion.

I don't think the base suspension C6 is a fair comparison with a C5 Z06. It might be similar HP & Torque - but that's about where the similarity ends. The Z06 will handle better and do everything better (including look......)than a base suspension model. If you want a more fair comparison - then you have add the C6 Z51 option, and then at least according to several magazines - they're pretty close.
