I just did my first modification. I was going to get a blackwing but this K&N was $100 on ebay (new) and it simply looks awsome. runs great and strong! sounds cool too...

Air intake is often the first choice for mods. It's a good one. Then comes the exhaust. Then comes the headers, maf, hi-flow cats....

If you haven't already done so. Your going to need to install some weatherstripping on the bumper support so water won't leak onto those filters.

Smart move. I could not believe how small the stock airbox opening is. Only about one sq inch! Mine really sounds better with the new airbox. Almost sounds like 2 big ol 4 barrel carbs when I get on it.

Other people must have a poor fit on their hood, because I've driven mine in the pouring Texas rain, washed it with a hose, sprayed it down real quick when out of town at a DIY car wash and I have never had a drop of water get on the exposed filter. I personally think the hood seal is the single most over-rated, most genius thing anyone ever made a ton of money on........

FWIW.....

Take a good look at the opening for the air flow on the stock cover. You will find that the under part of the cover has lovers that allow the air to flow in from both sides of the filter cover from underneath. The 1x1 hole is deceiving on the top. The engine would starve if that was all the air it could draw.

Go to Advanced auto and buy the 15 ft of round self stick seal they have. It cost $15 and you can get 2 pieces out of it (so share it with a friend) works great.
