I read on (sticky) thread under (Secrets of the C5) that if you have the passive entry feature and you lock your keys in the car you can just wait a few minutes, then shake the car and it will unlock. I tried this and it didn't work for me. Am I doing something wrong, Thanks.
Is the passive feature turned on ??? The fob has to be in the on position, after five minutes the fob turns off. You need to vibrate the fob vigorisly enough to wake it up. If the passive is on, it will indeed unlock the door,.
Also, you don't list what year C5 you have. The passive feature was removed in '99 as I recall. You need to have a passive enabled remote meaning it has the "passive" slide switch on the face below the bottons. If you haven't used the passive switch in a while, it may not engage the first time you slide it over. Try working it back and forth. The slider is prone to contamination from pocket lint. Make sure you feel it "lock" into place when you slide it to the on position.
My vette is a 2000 vert. I don't believe I have any slide on my remote. I just have the buttons. Does that mean it won't work??
If your remote doesn't look like this, then you don't have the passive feature.
In a nutshell, no it is not a feature on your car. As I stated, they stopped the passive feature in 1999 (which I've now confirmed.) You will notice the slide switch below the panic button and hatch release on the fob in the picture.

I agree. However, I have mine off so I double check to be sure keys are with me. Or Call the wife to bring another set.
