Get a GMPP or General Motors Protection Plan. They are accepted at virtually every dealer and cover more than most "aftermarket" warranties. They are available at dealerships.
Went to the dealer I bought my 2003 Convertible and purchased a GMPP 5 year, 60,000 mile plan with a 100.00 deductible before the factory warranty gave up in July. The mechanics of the car don't scare me but the electronics do. Cheap piece of mind.
Also, while there drove a 2006 ZO6. . . .What a car. Told the salesman to do me a favor, don't ever sell me that car. So fast it is scary. Can't trust myself.
Anyone know the assumablility of GMPP's by a new buyer (from a private party)?? Does coverage cease at time of sale??
No it does not... SO, if you have a C5 and extend the warranty for even longer than you plan on keeping the car, it actually makes the car a bit more valuable when selling..
You can indeed pass the remainder of the GMPP on to the new owner. You can read more about GMPP by clicking this GMPP link

No extended warranty here. If I were to get one I'd get a GMPP from Ken Fichtner (Sp?) Chevy. They are a CF supporting dealer and have the best prices in the country.
