Z06 popularity and availability
I don't know much about the C5 Z06 availability but was wondering what year they introduced the Z06 for the C5? I would assume that there was the same frenzy over the car then as there is now. How long did it take before Z06's started to show up on the lots and weren't already sold? How about affordability, were there deals to be had. Just wondering as the current Z06 seems to be quite rare and don't see any dealers advertising them. Will history show that in a couple of years dealers will have the C6 Z06 on blue light specials??, thks Ed
Whoops probably should have put this in the Z06 section. I'm a bad person

When the 2001 Z06 became avl.in july/aug. of 2000--they were bringinh 5-10,000 premium..By the way its still the best of the Zs--first year since 1963 has something special!
I honestly don't recall much of a "frenzy" at all when the Z06 came out. Chevrolet was supposed to develope an affordable lightweight Corvette back in '99. A car with no power options or hardly any options at all. This turned out to be the hardtop which didn't really sell that well because it wasn't too much cheaper than a coupe. After two years, this platform was used for the Z06 because of it's weight advantage and somewhat different look. So people had already seen the Z06. The only difference being it had the base 345 horsepower instead of the 385 which it had went it debuted in '01. Appearance wise, the only thing missing from the '99 and '00 hardtops was the brake duct in front of the rear wheel.
