Default Wheel Trouble

I have a nice 97 c5. I bought some chrome wheels through Eckler's back in 1999. These are the stock looking thin spoke wheels that have been chromed. Corvette Mike, I think, sold the wheels to Eckler's. I paid over $1600.
My car is a 30k mile car, always garaged-kept under a car cover. My problem is that these the chrome on these wheels (all of them) is beginning to come off. Some of the wheels are worse than others, but all are shedding the chrome. It started on the inside of the wheels but is now moving onto the spokes and the wheel rims.
I called Eckler's some time ago and was told because of the age of the transaction that they could not help me.
I wonder if any of you folks have had similar problems? Any advise?
I now need to buy new wheels. Where is the best place to get wheels that will not repeat the problem described?
Thanks for any help.
Mike

Mike !!!!
You got seven years out of them... even the best chromers out there give you a three year warranty.. you got double that plus...
You really cant complain..
I had my Wagon wheels chromed in 99. It cost me 1200 dollars, and they look as good today as the day I bought them...
they came from West Coast Corvettes, in an exchange program. They had the best guarantee at the time, 3 years... everyone else had a year or two guarantee.
There isn't much you can do with those wheels except having them stripped and re chromed...
I can give you a tip about chrome...Do not use chrome cleaners on them, use only windex...if necessary use some chrome cleaner on a problem area but do not use it more than once or twice a year.
If you want new wheels, you need to have a budget, then we could help with some suggestions for the best bang for the buck

Most posts I've seen say chrome wheels start having chipping and peeling problems after 3 years.... that's why I have stayed away form them....

I took mine in to have a leaky tire fixed and found out the chrome is peeling on the inside of my wheels also. I really like the chrome look on the Torch Red, so I'll probably stick with chrome. I've found a set of C6 reproductions that have a three year warranty on the finish, so for about $800 I figure if I have to replace them in three years, well, it's only about $265 / year.

Ive had chrome wheels on my play cars for the last 20 years, I have never had an issue... I found I got use to the easy maintenance factor... I was skeptical about buying raw aluminum forged wheels in my CCW's.... They are not as easy to maintain, naturally, but they are no where near as hard as I thought. I actually like the look of the aluminum over the look of chrome. It has a much classier look, I use the chrome wheel on my C5 in the winter. When the weather breaks here in the spring the CCW's go back on.

Craig: If you read this can you advise source (vendor) of the C6 reproductions for $800. I am going to have to buy a new set of wheels or either get these rechromed. I think I would like the new ones better. My car is also Torch Red and I think it looks cool with the chrome.
Thanks, Mike

The wheels were $689 + $80 for shipping + $25 for lugs and locks.
