What is the "black loop" extending near your passenger side foglight?
When I was at Corvette Classics in Ft Wayne, In they had a vette in there that at one time was in Europe. It also had these on the front and rear and I asked the manager of the museum what these were for. From what I remember he said it had to do with high performance sports cars and the Autobahn. Due to some of the accidents at a high rate of speed on the Autobahn they were required to have these so a wrecker could attach to these points and pull the car out of the way to open the highway up quicker.Originally Posted by Oldvetter

I tried giving thumbs-up to a nice new Porsche - He did'nt even notice as his nose was too high in the air.

Went to a meeting yesterday ( see pics ) a kid came to me and asked :
hey Mister do you really drive that car on the road or is it just for the race track , it's for the raod son .... his jaw was falling open .
When returning home I made a close encounter of the second kind with a Porsche Carrera 2 . Whe played some and the driving next to each other he gave me thumbs up , wich I respectfully returned .
Yeah life is good ....

Post some more pics since we can't go to Belgum to see it!
The car looks great. More pics from the side and rear!

awesome ride, cool story for sure
i too had an encounter the other day... mine was with a RX8
(being a previous generation (Rx2, Rx4, Rx7) rotor-head - I enjoyed playing with him - no one gunned it, just stuck together plus or minus 5 cars now and then as we whiled away the trip down from NYC - i peeled off and flashed him my hazzards a couple times to say farewell
(he had the respect of rotor - to pay the extra $75 for the chrome ROTOR emblem at the lower rear of the car between the exhausts)
he didnt challenge, nor did i exert my authority - just a couple of rev-heads hangin on the shared highway of our dreams...
Respect.

At least we can sleep securely in the fact that we didnt drop $100k for our cars. Had a guy in a new Carerra S not even acknowledge me after he came SCREAMING off the exit ramp and hung that hard left under the freeway, by that time I had accellerated and was about 1 1/2 carlegnths behind him glued to his tail
I did get a thumbs up from a guy in a Ferrari though a month or so ago. Dont know what kind but it looked exactly like the one Christy Brinkley drove in National Lampoon's Vacation. Except this car was yellow. You can definately seperate out the "car guys" from the rich brownie hounds.

However the front spoiler and side skirts are not just bolt on , al gaps are filled/up and worked away.
I think the paint job on the side skirts are giving them some extra effect .
Thanks for the nice compliments all of you ...

I LIKE! I have a Le Mans Z06 and it's similiar in overall appearance. Ill have to PM you pics when I figure out how to do it.
Hey Thanks Rocket ,
So you got the Z06 Z16 version , mine is the Coupe Z18 version .
It came with the same stripes like yours , brakes, seats , logo's, chassis etc etc.
I just thought it could use some bigger stripings and added a litle here and there so it would look even more like the race version that won Le Mans .
kind regards , Dirk

WOW! Your C5 is damn beautiful, Dirk! And, you have certainly been busy. Your C5 body mods are awesome. Enjoy!
