Well, I should be getting my 2000' C5 back by the weekend. If you remember my last post, it has been in the body shop since Sept. 05'
Unfortunately, nice guys finish last and it took me getting VERY IRATE with the owner to start to get progress moving. I have been at the shop every day for the past two weeks and it seems to be paying off. My car just got back from having a wheel alignment today and is currently sitting at the dealership waiting to have the PCM computer re-programmed tommorrow. All that is left after that is to get the car buffed, polished and detailed.
The new Eagle GS-D3's look great on the car and I can't wait to drive it to see how it feels since I took the runcraps off. I'll keep you informed on what I think after I get the car back and drive it for awhile.
I go by the shop 2-3 times a week to keep them on thier toes. And it works. Sorry yours has taken so long. Why so many months? Are you up north and they don't think you will need it back til spring?

EXACTLY!!! The owner has three Vettes and takes them off the road for the winter, but I told them that I don't take mine off the road for the winter. Plus, it didn't help that I signed over the first Ins. adjustment check in full. They have another one coming and you can bet that I won't sign over that one until I'm satisfied with the work.

I've been in the bodyshop business for over 20 years. I can count on 1 hand how many times I've taken an insurance check before the car is done. The few times I have taken a check is only because it was a very large job and parts are expensive if you don't have a charge acct at some dealerships. (eg. Hummer in shop right now, 9K in parts (bad example, still didn't ask for check...lol))
The cure not to **** the customer off is to be honest and realistic with when a customer's car will be ready.
I hate when I hear shop owners/managers tell the customer what they want to hear.
A little truth and updates goes a long way.
Good luck getting your car back asap. Make sure you check out the car very well before you take it. There's a good chance that if a job took that long, it was probably a decent size job and therefore required a supplement.
Though the supplement check is suppose to go directly to the bodyshop, it's a good way to get some leverage before they finalize the bill.
