Re: Emission Code Option NG1 - Does it rob horsepower? (Subdriver)
Yes, they do. And they eat more gas, too. My first Z28 did this and I was wondering why it was so slow and ate so much gas compared to other Z28's. Then I found out that the car came from NY and had NY emissions on it. I was so pissed.

I had a Firebird Formula with CA emissions and I always wondered why it didn't seem as fast as I had initially expected. It could've been the emissions.
Re: Emission Code Option NG1 - Does it rob horsepower? (z28com)
z28com,
FYI, a post on another Z06 website claims the car is 50 state emissions legal and its just a sticker on the car for the various states. He seemed knowledgeable so hopefully they are all the same.
Re: Emission Code Option NG1 - Does it rob horsepower? (Subdriver)
Wow.
Mine wasn't. They had a code for it. I think there was some extra equipment added for smog control. I only got 20.5 MPG with mine with an automatic while most other people were getting 24-25 MPG with an automatic. Plus I put a new exhaust and ram air and all that and was only running 14.45@95 while others were running 14.0-14.3 with no mods.

No, it does not.
All 2002 Corvettes are 50-state legal and the various emissions option codes are there to make sure all the various bureaucrats are happy with the paperwork.
