What's up with this? Mine's a 99 coupe auto and everytime I start the car, the air conditioning is on. So I turn it off, drive and park it with the a/c still off. But when I start the car up again, the a/c is on again.
Is this just the way it is? Is this the default setting for the a/c? Or is there a way to keep it turned off? (as it is on all the GM cars I've ever had).
I think if you go to the "Mode" button and click it until the little arrow is in the "vent" position, you'll disengage the "Auto" a/c, and it won't be on everytime you start up. You can then just push the a/c button to manually turn on and off the a/c. However, if you push the "Auto" button and thermostatically set the temp, you'll be back to square one again. Give that a try.
It took me awhile to figure it out too when I bought my car 2 years ago.
Set everything the way you want it, the mirrors, a/c, seat, and radio. Press and hold your memory button. After it flashes, release it. Now every time you start your car, no matter what changes you or anyone made to the mirrors, a/c, seat or radio, they will all return to the setting you set. I have my favorite's on memory 1, my wife uses memory 2, my son uses memory 3 (Press button 1 and 2 at the same time). Needless to say, memory 2 and 3 do not get used very often.
