Default C5 Ram Air Intake System

Does anybody have this intake system on their C5? I'm thinking about ordering it from Midamerica. Did you notice any horsepower improvements? Is $199.00 the cheapest this system can be bought for? Thanks!

This looks like an improvement - but it still takes random warm air from the engine compartment. The Vortec box takes outside air that's pressurized a bit as you drive. Nice cold air!

The breatheless, vararam, and cyclone air intakes all take cold air in from underneath. I have a cyclone intake and noticed quite a difference in the before and after. The cyclone induction costs around 300 from what I remember.
Bottom line, get one that grabs air from underneath...

Do you have to worry about sucking up water/moisture into the engine with this system? The dealer at motorsport technologies wouldn't sell me the varaam because of this and the fact my baby is a daily driver.

I have a vararam on mine and have noticed quite an improvement in performance. .2 tenth better just in the 1/8 mile, that's closer to .4 tenths in the 1/4 and better the colder it is outside.

Anything is an improvement over stock though.

BTW, mines a daily driver and I've had no issues with it at all, I even take it to the car wash sometimes just to spray it down.

I like the other systems too but I don't wanna spend $300 + for them. That's why I was thinking about getting this system. It looks good too!

If you want colder air, open up your fog light surrounds. That will allow cooler air into the engine compartment. I have a halltech stinger and that is what I did.

I put this on my girlfriends C5...do NOT spend 199 for it...you can get them all day long on ebay for $40-$60. You could tell a little bit of a difference, car seems to breathe a little better.

I had MTI True Ram air on my 2001 C5 and YES you can tell a lot more of a difference with this system, especially TOP END!!!

I Now have the VaraRam ram air kit on my 2002 C5 and I really like it. Was already on the car when I purchased car, so I can't tell you if a difference was felt with this system.
