Just found out today that Goodyear RunFlats are on a nation wide back order for 30 days or more! I can't find a P24545ZR17 GS to save my life! Everywhere I call no one has or is able to get one! This includes Tire Rack. I guess I can wait this out but what happens to someone who really needs a replacement?Yeah yeah I know go buy something else right? but for those of us who like these tires that kind of leaves us hanging... your thoughts? ok I know the flames are on the way!
My Dad is a dealer. The military usage of tire materials is up and some types of tires are more difficult to come by right now. He is have some problems getting tires as well.
Glad I ordered my GS D3's in January when they had the $40 rebate. They are sitting happily in storage waiting for the snow to disappear and then to be mounted. Run flats are coming off.
Check out the Firestone run flats. I switched to them when my Goodyears were worn out. They are a lot quieter. There have been a lot of members here used them and ended up prefering them.
i noticed that recently, went to go order GS-D3's and the rears are on back order.
Yep have to get tires this month, took me a lot of calling, they found two sets in Mobile (fronts) and rears from Ohio - last 2 they showed not on backorder. Whew. Shipping the car to Germany in a month so I could not wait for a backorder. Big10 Tires beat all other prices - 205 fronts 300 rears - nice.

It's also tied into oil being used more around the world (China), and thus less carbon being available to create carbon fiber, put the black into tires, and to strengthen steel.

Are they truly that much quieter? Or it is just a perception based on new versus worn tires?
The reason I ask is because any new tire is going to be quieter than a tire with little to no useable tread left. Case in point: When I bought my car, one of the stock Goodyear rear tires was toast. A forum member sent me a set of used GY runflats with about 4/32 of tread left. I could immediately tell they were quieter than the tires they replaced. Yet they were the same type and manufacturer of tire. Comments?

Is it ture that Firestone Run Flats are not repairable?
