The wife and I are disagreeing about this, but I like the way the stick on lettering kits highlight the "Corvette" embossed label on the backside of the vette. I've got an electron blue Z06 and am thinking that either red lettering to match the taillights or white or chrome look would look best. I think the wife is afraid I will gaudy it up too much with things like this. I think she has seen some of my catalogs where some of the examples show some REALLY awful combinations of chrome knicknacks and doodads put all over the car.
But here's my concern. These are just stick ons. I like the idea of the polished stainless letters, but it would be a real pisser if one of the letters drops off two years from now. I would then have to buy a whole complete set just to get that one letter. So, I'm tempted to get the acrylic set so I can buy two of them to have extra letters for backup.
Anyone bought these things then regretted doing so?
I have the brakelight red letters and they look awesome. Been on the car for three years with no problems. Just make sure you clean the recessed areas really well with something like denatured alcohol to remove any wax that might be there.
Beauty is in the eye of the owner I have a Torch red with SS letters on the rear. I think they look great. Been on for a year and a half with no issues.

I have had the brakelight red letters on my car two years, and have had no issues at all. I get a lot of compliments on them and I like 'em!
The S/S Inserts would probably be my next choice. They are very well made, they fit flush and if the surface is prepared properly - they stick. I live in Phoenix and I have a black car - you'd think with that kind of heat I'd have an issue - but I've had none.
The Brakelight red would look great on any color except for the reds - IMHO!

I bought a set of the brakelight red epoxy letters from Mid-America about two years ago. As long as you get the mounting surface really clean, you should have no problems. Mine is still stuck on there very well. And I think that the red on your blue would look great.
Heres another vote for the brakelight red. I also have an Electron Blue coupe, and just ordered a set, for the rear and also a set for the front license cover. First saw them on a friends car, and knew immediately I wanted a set.
Anyone actually seen a photo of the red lettering on an electron blue so I can show my wife? I know I could do it and she would grudgingly shake her head at my foibles, but she is in my camp about getting this toy and isn't yelping too much about my putting headers on order, so I'm interested in keeping her on my side. If you know what I mean....
Heck, how many guys could find a wife that would out of the blue ask if there is a gun show nearby anywhere so we could take a drive there and buy a new gun or two?

I got the same...no problems whatsoever...and yes make sure you clean the area with alcohol and a q-tip
My $0.02 is that if you decide to go with Silver (Chrome look), go with the SS Inserts. They are only about $30 more, and it is a Vette .
I do have to laugh at the fact that I had to pay $60 to put chrome lettering on the back of my $45K Corvette, and my daughters $14K Toyota Corolla came with chrome lettering on the back

I had the same on my black C5. Brake light red really stands out and the laser cut matches the third brake light perfectly. Two years with no problems. I also put the brake light red letters on the front plate cover.

I ordered the chrome rear letters from Zip Products (www.zip-products.com) but haven't gotten around to installing them yet. The backing on the "O" was slightly misaligned so I returned it and a replacement was promptly sent from their supplier, West Coast Corvettes in Placentia, CA. With the replacement letter they sent a tube of 3M primer which was not included with the original order from Zip. The letters came in an envelope with a GM logo and a statement that it was an official licensed product of GM. I think the chrome letters will look great on the rear of my pewter '01 vert. -- John
