Well that stinks. If the scratch is down to the primer, then I'm afraid your only chance is touch-up paint. If it's in the clearcoat but still deep enough that your fingernail gets caught on it, it's probably not removeable. However when I get scratches, I start with clay, then move to polish, if that isn't working, I use fine cut rubbing compound. I've never gone to a harder grit than that, but if you wanted to I'm sure you could. Tell us how bad the scratch is. I'm going to assume to the primer, as almost all key marks are.
That sucks really bad. It more then likely was someone Jealous of the Corvette. Haters are the worse. If it is a deep scratch but not through the clear coat, I would recommend using some 2000 grit sand paper and wet sanding the key scratches, after most of the scratch is not noticeable, taking care not to go completely through the clear coat, then take some 3M micro finish compound and buff the area, then buff with 3M Finese it 2, and then you should be good to put a coat of wax on and forget about it. If you think it will might come out, it might be best to have your insurance look at it before you try and fix it yourself.

If you can feel it with your finger tip - I doubt if you'll be able to "rub it out". Your comprehensive coverage will cover the work - assuming it's over your deductible. I would find a good body shop and let them look at it. If it is not through the color coat (but it sounds like it is...)the scratch can be sanded and buffed - understand that you will lose the clear coat in that spot.
Sorry that happened - people can be such A$$holes...... Any idea why they chose to vandalize your car?
Sorry to hear that! I don't understand what would make a person decide to key a car. REALLY ticks me off!!!! If it was my car, I'd do what ever it takes to restore the scratched area back to "normal". From what I've read so far, perhaps painting is the best option. Good luck.

If it were mine, I'd talk to my insurance company about a vandalism claim - goes under your comprehensive portion of the policy. Best way to fix it is to repaint.
Hate to see that happen. I had it a few time over the years with other cars.....would love to catch one of those ****** just one time!!!!!!!
Yeah, but unfortunately I doubt any judge would let you off with a "justifiable homicide" defense. But certainly a spontaneous temporary insanity plea would be defensible. Just make sure you scream a lot when you pound the creep into the pavement.
Sorry to hear about your car man. I really don't know what i would do if i walked up on someone keying my car. I believe that the cops would prob. have to pull their guns on me to keep me off the guy. I would give the car a good buff and hope it comes out. Good Luck and hope it doesn't happen again. I guess i'm lucky, never happened to me before. Knock Knock Knock Knock Knock on WOOD!
